Good morning -- well it was morning when I started this. Since then I‘ve made coffee, breakfast, fed the dogs, hunted for Margie’s property on the Google map, taken a shower and cut George‘s hair. (He is looking so incredibly handsome.) It’s about time for lunch!
Day before yesterday, I saw Pig and 10 of her nieces & doe cousins traipsing through the front yard, which is in front of the kitchen window. (I’ve included a portrait of Pig so you can see how adorable she is.) The other gals are a little camera shy.
There’s another wood bench by the fire ring now, so with the one that was there, we have plenty of comfy spots to sit around the campfire. It’s been beautiful here lately - clear blue sky and no rain or snow. Margie & Rusty have had snow up at their place all along (we can look over the canyon and see about where it is from our place), but their elevation is higher.
Mom is doing well. She’s continuing to walk around her block and has been cooking some healthy food, with Dave’s help. I bought some fuzzy red yarn yesterday when we were in town to make her an after-chemo hat. Hopefully I have a pattern around here somewhere or I’ll just wing it. Town for me is Lewiston/Clarkston, where Costco is, and a number of great thrift stores. In fact, one block has a St. Vincent’s and a Goodwill, right next to each other. George found a little speaker device for my iPod for only $4! I was so excited to listen to my favorite songs last night without ear buds - and all the little speakers needed was new batteries. It’s small and cute and works like a dream. My Nickelback is back. Yeah!
This evening we’re headed down to the school for a community potluck. This is where everybody from the surrounding mountains get together and EAT (I just love doing that). I’m making Shara’s artichoke lasagna, but since it’s sometimes hard for me to follow a recipe, I think I’ll make it with bowtie pasta and little shreds of carrots. It’s a super delicious potluck dish - thanks Shara.
I think about you daily and hope you’ll plan to come up in June to go rafting. Until then, please continue to keep Mom in your prayers. Time to eat some lunch then take a hike. Talk to you later.
