Join my husband and me in life in Eden, actually on Eden Bench, above Troy, Oregon. View photographs we take of the most beautiful scenery and wildlife while we hike, fish, forage, or float down the Grande Ronde River.

Blogging away
Since we’re living way up here in the mountains, it was agreed that I should start a blog to let my friends and family know what I’m up to. I have a new notebook computer -- “Full throttle performance wrapped in laser-etched magnesium.” (That’s it’s description!) I’m so glad to have it, it’s a great way to keep in touch. Yesterday (New Year’s Day) was beautiful - gorgeous blue sky & puffy white clouds. George and I bundled up, put Hotties into our boots and gloves and took a ride on the 4 wheeler. It was cool seeing animal tracks in the snow. No cougar tracks, just deer & rabbit. We did see cougar tracks about two weeks ago -- so big that my palm fit inside. (Didn’t take the time to get a photo…) Today the snow has melted, the road is soggy, the sky is gray. Oh well, it’s a great day to curl up with a blanket and read a book I got from mom: Anne Lamott’s Grace (Eventually) Thoughts on Faith. I love Anne Lamott’s writing style. A small white tail deer just walked by the big picture window in the living room (in front of the table where I‘m writing). George is trying to photograph her, but she’s on a mission. We don‘t see many white tail here, mostly mule deer. They’re all cute though -- I love watching them run. They bounce like rabbits, but with long, long legs. Oh yes, I did make chocolate chip cookies yesterday. They’re ok. I learned that white sugar is in a recipe for a reason (you probably shouldn’t just leave it out to make a less fattening cookie). Since I did leave out the white sugar, they are a little more like a hockey puck than a Mrs. Field’s -- but they‘ll be really good dunkers!
